Backstreets Bar & Grill in Hickory was the perfect spot for a mother-and-daughter lunch! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had the potato soup, turkey and noodle soup, Cajun chicken pasta, cheese steak dip, and sweet potato fries, and every single thing was wonderful. The real highlight, though, was our server, Dave. Ask to sit in his section if you can! He was incredibly friendly and attentive. I happened to mention that my blood sugar was getting low, and he made sure our soups came out incredibly quickly. That level of kindness and attentiveness is hard to find these days. Great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
This was such a great stop on the way to Asheville! The food was amazing and the service was top notch. We got the Steak Sandwich with Onion Rings and Horseradish Cream Sauce, Ahi Tuna Sandwich and Side Salad with Ranch and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with Truffle Parm fries. The horseradish cream sauce was perfect, the au jus was drinkable, the chicken was tender and moist and the tuna was cooked to perfection. 10 out of 10 and definitely worth the short trip off the highway! Sorry for the half eaten photos - we couldn’t help it!
First time dining here and pleased all the way around. Service was excellent. Food was delicious and huge portions. I recommend the Ruben Sandwich and onion rings. My husband had the crab sandwich with Cajun Sauce, which was very spicy! The only thing I would change is the Ranch Dressing, it tasted like mayonnaise with a little seasoning. ------------------- 2nd visit today: We had a great waitress, I wish I could remember her name. She had short blonde hair. I ordered the Reuben again because it was fantastic last time. The bread came out burnt, and the meat was tough 😞 They were kind enough to remake the Reuben and it was great! The bread was nicely grilled and the meat was moist. Really great sauerkraut. I ordered French fries with it and ask for the ones with seasoning. They waitress said they don't come with seasoning. That was a disappointment because the picture I posted from our first visit shows it with seasoning. My husband had a beef sandwich with auju sauce. It was good, but the meat was a little dry. We tried the white bean and sausage soup. It had a spice I didn't care for. We also ordered a cup of the chicken pot pie soup. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't the best. Next time, I will try the potato soup. It gets busy on a Friday after 4 p.m. but it seemed to flow pretty well because of the seating outside and in the bar. We'll come back and maybe try something different.--------------------------3rd visit. I got the Reuben again. This time it wasn't over toasted and was plump full of corned beef. Our Onion Rings were quite over fried compared to our first visit. The Brescuetta was incredible! It's on a thin pizza crust . We would definitely order again.
